How to Plant on Trainyard 1st and 2nd Stage

Since a lot of new Players swarming in i thought why not give them a little Trick how to plant the C4 correctly on Trainyard.

Also interesting: How to Plant on Underground last stage

    Agree with @Shenaynays on trainyard 2nd stage.

    You're not mentionning it but on Underground 1st obj, if you have time (if you're doing good, you should always have the time), plant in front of the pillar, not behind so it's way easier to defend from every point (roof, front door, and side doors if opened)

    Honestly, it really depends on what's going on.
    Rather than tell new players "plant here and only here!!", tell them the pros and cons of planting there. They should understand exactly why planting there is important.

    Sure, planting in the middle of the first trainyard OBJ is great, but you're likely to get killed if any enemies are still alive. And well, sometimes it's better to have C4 in a bad spot than try to wait for an opening, which usually means no C4 at all.

    Things that should be considered when planting:
    1. Your line of sight to the enemy team while planting, if they can shoot you, how easily, etc.
    2. Your team's line of sight to the C4, and how easily they can shoot people defusing it or hold airstrikes on it.
    3. How the C4 can be defused. Planting out in the open is great, but it means the person defusing can have a line of sight anywhere while they defuse, meaning when they see an enemy they have a chance to kill them. If you plant on the inside of a corner, it will usually force players to lose their line of sight while defusing, meaning they won't see you approach them.
    4. Whether or not the enemy team can defuse from around a corner. If you plant on the outside of a corner, the enemy team will likely try to defuse from behind that corner. In maps like Underground, this usually means the defusing person can't be shot from the most used vantage points.

    Basically, try to make things as awkward as possible for the enemy team to defuse, and as easy as possible for your team to defend. But if you can't find a spot that fits that criteria, poorly placed C4 is usually better than no C4 at all.

    i kinda gave up with the vid after that part but agreed infront of the pillar is always the best.

    @Shenaynays

    you know that Trainyard has two Sides you can attack from? so the Carriage has two Openings. Its not about running though the Carriage to plant on the backdoor, its more about the alternate Route from the Attackers.

    @Ptiloui

    Depends, if the right Door is Open its better to plant at the Side facing the Door, its closed, its better to Plant infront, so the Roof can cover it. There is no ultimate how to Plant on the Pillar, its situational.

    @STARRYSOCK

    well it should be clear why they should plant in the Open? You team can cover it. People just can't think 2 meters ahead.

    Yes but theres almost no reason to ever go to that side unless your team is being is completely shutdown through the other side and your team doesnt have an arty or kira to open the generator, And even then most of the time people use the other way are the supprise the enemies from behind and let your team push in.

    when planting its always good to remember: its much easier to plant than to defend to plant. Hard to plant/easy to defend is almost always better than easy to plant/hard to defend.

    Planting when enemies are around is almost always bad, and only ever works on super chaotic pubs

    Let's not forget that sometimes a hasty/sneaky plant in a non-optimal position is all you can do in the heat of the battle, and even if it doesn't get through it still forces the defenders to split up into smaller groups.

    And even the best plant position is absolutely worthless if you don't keep an eye on the spawn timer and the number of team mates still alive and able to help you defending.

    Sometimes putting the bomb in a corner is still beneficial, given that you are aware of when enemies are actually about to defuse. It is much easier to hit a person with an explosive when they are hugging a corner, than when they are out in the opening. You can also place a defensive laser on the C4 a lot easier if it is hugging a corner as there are less angles for the enemy to try and defuse.

    So, regardless of where you plant, it is very situational based on who is on your team, which mercs they are using, and the level of communication used.

    Personally I have a specific merc I always pick on Train Yard, and it always requires me to plant on one of the corner spots, rather than in the middle.

    That being said though, I like that you were willing to help new players learn where/how to plant. Most of the time if you are able to plant in those locations, they are much easier to defend, like you've stated.

  • Left side train plants (at the second objective) are surprisingly effective if your team is controlling the building with the mg.
