The Guardian Update - Bug Megathread

Hey all!

With every new update there are often a number of unforeseen issues that sneak in. To address these as quickly as possible, we're creating a single Forum Megathread so you can let us know when you run into them. This way, you’ll have a much greater chance of having them seen by our QA team than by creating a new thread (we only have so much time for bug-thread hunting!)

Before you make a post please do a quick check to see if anyone else has reported the issue you have experienced. If so, simply up-vote their comment and we’ll know the severity of issues.


Format bug reports: When putting a bug into the comments below make sure that you give us as much information as you can. If you can remember any of the events leading up to the issue it can help us find the cause quicker.

  • Type of Bug: Eg. Gameplay bug, HUD and in game UI, Frontend UI etc.

  • Description: Describe what the bug is and what happened in the moments leading up to and after the incident.

  • Video / Screenshot: If you can grab a screenshot (which you can do through steam) or a video recording of the issue it would be useful for us.

  • Steps to reproduce: List the steps that lead up to the bug. Try not to leave any information out, every step can be useful!

  • Result: What happened after you experienced the bug.

  • Expected result: What you believe should have happened if there was no bug.

  • Reproduction rate: How many times out of 10 have you experienced this issue? (1/10 - 10/10)

Performance/Graphical Issues: If you are experiencing either performance or graphical related issues, please also add your System Specification to your bug report including: Processor, Graphics Card, RAM, HDD/SSD, Motherboard, Sound Card and even drivers etc.

We’ll be going through each and every bug which is posted here. If you don’t get a reply, don’t worry. Just rest assured knowing we have made note of your issue and it will be addressed when possible.

Thank you for helping us make Dirty Bomb a cleaner place (that sounds wrong but you know what I mean).

    • Type of Bug: Merc Ability

    • Description: Sky shield not being thrown when players / delivery point / EV is close

    • Video / Screenshot: None

    • Steps to reproduce: Stand close to a player, chopper delivery crate or EV and throw the sky shield.

    • Result: Sky shield won't be thrown but the CD will state as if it were deployed and instantly destroyed (around 12s CD).

    • Expected result: Sky Shield supposed to be somewhere near the point you were aiming.

    • Reproduction rate: I'd say 90%

    I feel that if you try to launch the drone in a place that is already occupied by an other object, the it gets instantly destroyed.

    Okay this is not a bug, but I think Sky Shield should give support xp, like 20xp per projectiles and 50xp per airstrikes/salvos it countered.

    I received xp for this. If i remember correctly it is 30xp per projectile/salvo stopped (so 90xp for a full arty's artillery)

    Type of Bug: Gameplay Bug
    Description: Reduced melee distance, specifically for katana and bat, and aura station hitbox
    Video / Screenshot: If you can grab a screenshot (which you can do through steam) or a video recording of the issue it would be useful for us.
    Steps to reproduce: If you stand to finish an enemy with a bat and katana, you will miss with normal swings. You used to always hit, with the exception of the stilonetto which only does that sometimes. The hitbox of the aura station with melee attacks is also constantly changing. Even aiming at the handle with a heavy swing katana doesn't work.
    Result: Annoyance at the inconsistent ranges of melee, where you can't hit things while standing.
    Expected result: You can hit downed enemies while standing. You could also hit the aura station with a heavy swing of katana.
    Reproduction rate: 10/10

  • *Type of Bug:score keeping

    • **Description: Guardian recorded as best Aura in Cmm.

    • **Video / Screenshot: (not my video all credit to Devower) at the end of the clip you will see he is credited with best aura although Guardian was played throughout.

    • **Steps to reproduce: unknown

    • **Result: bad scoring

    • **Expected result: Best guardian tag in cmm

    • **Reproduction rate: unknown

    Type of Bug: Gameplay Bug
    Description: Hitboxes of ragdolls resting on deployables
    Video / Screenshot: If you can grab a screenshot (which you can do through steam) or a video recording of the issue it would be useful for us.
    Steps to reproduce: Down an enemy, and if he is on top of a deployable, like a turret or aura station, your melee hits will keep contacting the ragdoll even after finishing him.
    Result: You have to go around the ragdoll and hit a specific exposed part of the deployable, even if it is a turret that is raised way above a ragdoll.
    Expected result: Your melee hits will hit the deployable and not a finished ragdoll, doing damage to the deployable.
    Reproduction rate: 2/2, once on an aura station with an aura on it and another with a bushwacker on his turret.
